College students compete in trivia questions tournament

Trivia games have always been a favorite pastime for college students. A college in Texas is now trying to make this into a tradition. The Texas Tech Activities Board has announced the first College Bowl for trivia games.

Six different teams have already signed up to compete in the quiz based trivia game which will challenge the players' knowledge in several different categories including history, arts and literature, science trivia, religion, current events and even popular culture. Each team has four students and on alternate student.

The student union associate director said the game is modeled after similar trivia games like Jeopardy, and will comprise of a format of trivia questions and answers. There are different kinds of trivia questions with different points value which varies according to the type of question and also how difficult it is, with the easy trivia questions getting lower points than the really difficult ones. There are also bonus questions which the teams get an opportunity to answer if they first answer one of the toss-up trivia questions.

To keep things manageable, there is even a deduction for interrupting the moderator while he is reading the trivia question with a wrong answer. This can by useful in a room filled with rowdy college aged trivia lovers.

And the prize for winning – the winning team will have all its expenses paid, and also be awarded special polo shirts with the Texas Tech brand.
