Online trivia games are quickly growing in popularity, and many big media players are rushing to take advantage of this new trend. MTV networks, operator of three leading music brands – MTV, VH1 and CMT, recently announced that it plans to offer its members free multiplayer music trivia games on its websites and trivia games for mobile phones as well.
The trivia games are planned to be both single player and multiplayer games, and will focus on quizzes about lyrics of songs.
Music trivia games are a big success in online trivia games sites. However it seems that this move by MTV is meant mainly to add 'stickiness' to their websites and give their visitors something fun to do, and less as a move to take a position in music trivia games in general.
Anyway, let's wait and see what they come up with and if it will be something that is interesting to trivia fans in general, or just to their wider audience of music lovers.
